New Year Better Eating

Yes like so many people I would like to make a resolution that I will lose weight when the fact of the matter is that I’ve lost a lot of weight but gained most of it back.  You know the “Yo-Yo” effect, well that’s been me.

So many times I find that I get bored eating the same thing day in and day out and too often if I don’t prepare things in advance I fall and then it is hard to get back to better eating.  I don’t know if anyone else experienced what I did over the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and if you did then I’m sorry but if you didn’t then just be thankful.  What did I experience, pain!  Pain in the form of weight gain, pain in the form of eating too much and pain in the stomach because the things I was consuming were making me feel sick to my stomach.  I was living on Tums and Alka-Seltzer almost for two months and I just couldn’t stop myself.  Okay it doesn’t help that work was extremely stressful.  Yeah I know everyone would say breathe in and out slowly or count to 10 but those don’t work very well for me.

Did I say that I was stressed well I most definitely was stressed and my hair stylist agreed with me, saying she was having to cover more gray than usual.  Let’s just say that where I work was extremely stressful for the last two months and no even my massages helped relieve the stress.

 

SICK

Yeah I was sick and it seemed that no matter what I ate, I was getting sick.  I was living pretty much on 6 Tums per day and/or 1 or 2 doses of Alka-Seltzer per day.  Yes I know that it is not good for me but I was looking for relief.  I kept on seeing that it was because we were eating food that we normally would not eat but still I ended up eating it and I might have started out with the idea of only having a tablespoon of something but then it seemed the more I limited myself the more tablespoons of the food I ate.  I know that it wasn’t good for me but I couldn’t stop myself because it is not something that I would usually eat.  So the food was richer and I was eating a lot more than I normally had but I seemed powerless to stop myself.

 

Finally it looks as if most of that food is out of the house and I’m getting more of the food that I should eat back into the house but it is a slow change over process.  I got so sick on some food last week that if I moved I felt sick, if I sat still I felt sick and the worse part of all is my pants are tight and they are my stretch pants.  I think I have a permanent indentation around my middle from where my waistband should be.

 

Solution:

Oh the solution is simple, eat better and eat healthier and then I will lose weight and be more energetic.

Yeah we’ve all read the articles and see the ads in print, video, TV and Internet about how you can quickly lose weight and never feel hungry.  Well I learned that those are not the way for me, many of them make you count calories and although I passed Calculus II in college with an ‘A’, I still don’t like doing the math of counting calories.  Note they tell you to do all of the counting and then to exercise, exercise, exercise but how can you do it when it actually hurts when you’re obese and try to do their exercises.  All too often then do not account for the fact that if you’re fat, you’re not able to move in way and if the exercises are too strenuous and hurt so after one or two tries I stop doing them either because I hurt myself or else they are too intense for me.

If only we could take weight off as easily as we put it on, that would be my one wish, forget World Peace.  Sorry just watched Ms Congeniality and just had to toss in the last part.  With my weight gain I’ve also become less active and yet when I used to live in another city, I used to run 6 days out of the week, come rain, sunshine, extremely hot temperatures or cold temperatures the only thing was that I had already lost the weight and found that I needed this outlet for all of my energy and I was eating whatever I wanted or could afford and by afford I meant because I had less than $20 to spend on groceries per week.

That was then and this is now and now is what has me concerned.  I’ve found with the few extra pounds that I’ve put on have put on, doing simple things is leaving me short of breath.  It seemed to happen so quickly so I scared myself into realizing that something has got to change and it is only something that I can do.  So with my weak will power I’m going to try and do something that will help me and it starts with me having better eating habits.

I can’t change how I eat such as in a rush or at my desk because I don’t really get time away from my desk to eat my dinner but I’m going to try and chew my food a little bit longer and maybe the chewing action will help.  I’m very picky when it comes to vegetables and I really don’t like a lot of vegetables so I’m going to eat more than the usual green beans and broccoli for my source of vegetables.

I’ve already started eating better starting today.  Unfortunately I didn’t wake up in time for breakfast before I had to rush off to an appointment and when I finally got home I was starving because it was almost 1130 hours.  I tried to relax eating and managed to do that a little bit and then took a nap before I left for work.  By the time five o’clock came around my stomach was growling big time.  So I ate and this may not be such a great thing since I usually get off at 2300 hours and the odds are I will need to grab a snack to eat before that time.  Maybe I’ll raid that pouch of tuna fish that I hid at work and mix it with mayo so it will be a better snack.

Remember me saying that I wanted to relax more as I ate, well I was doing my best and my partner was trying to take the foot traffic  coming into the building and the only lady in the lobby left but then she came back in and walked right up to me just as I put the food in my mouth.  I had to step away and thankfully my partner handled it because the only way I would be able to talk with the lady would have meant that I would have to swallow my food with very little chewing which would make for a very upset stomach.  My partner tried to take care of her but she was one of those people who are just lonely and just wants to talk.  So much for trying to relax and enjoy my meal at work.

Remember my saying I was always running out of time to prepare food, well I had a little bit of help today because they cooked the butternut squash for me and I had some cauliflower rice to go with my beef fajita meat and only used may for my condiment instead of wrapping the beef fajita in a tortilla.  The real thing that I wanted to say was that I’m trying to take care of my protein part of eating better.  I went to the store and bought some ground beef for hamburger patties, ground turkey for hamburger patties, chicken sausages, fajita chicken breasts and bacon, all of which were cooked out on my grill.  Once everything had cooled down I vacuum sealed them in the food saver bags and now I have 8 beef burgers with mozzarella cheese chunks and dried cranberries; 8 turker burgers with spinach and shredded mozzarella cheese, 6 fajita marinated chicken breasts cooked and cut up like for fajita servings, 5 chicken spinach and mozzarella sausages (hot dog size), and 1 1/2 pound of bacon all cooked up.  Now the bacon stays in the fridge for snacks and the rest have all been sealed up so I have the proteins all done.

I’m happy that I been able to eat better today and I realized that I got up late and was more concerned with getting my cup of coffee that I forgot to weigh in.  So on Saturday morning I was at 221.9 but on Sunday I was at 219.7; so I figured that I would go somewhere in between the two and chose 220.5 as my starting weight.  The important thing I should have done but didn’t do was take my blood pressure which I need to do when I get off and start keeping better track of it.

I noticed one thing though, I didn’t start having shortness of breath until I started taking my BP meds but now it is a regular thing.  I know, go to the doctor and get this take care of and I will do this, I just need to find a doctor because the last one moved out of state and the one before that went to Doctors Without Borders.

I should be off work early tonight so I’ll probably go home and make breakfast muffins so I can have something with my coffee and maybe even make some blueberry muffins the paleo/primal way so that I won’t go overboard on these items.

Plus I need to run to the store and buy some BBQ tools because my old ones have grown legs and run away.  It got so cold Sunday afternoon while grilling and I couldn’t find my bike lock to secure my gas grill to something outside that I had to haul it inside w/o being able to clean it.  I keep on forgetting it wasn’t summer time and so I wasn’t paying too much attention to the sun until it started setting….oops!  So finished cooking just as the sun was setting and the temperature had gone from high 60’s to 50 degrees, almost 18 degree change.

Either way, protein cooked, now to work on the veggies and put them in the smaller bags so all I have to do is grab a bag and stuff it into my lunch bag and head out in time to be to work on time.

25 To Go

Okay so it has taken a long time and probably the big 5 pound loss is probably due to the exercising that I did on Saturday but hey, I’ll take the pound loss any way I can get it.

The problem seems to be that my body needs some shaking up and no I don’t mean on those old machines that you used to put around your waist hoping that it would shake off those pounds…by the way for those of you who are too young to know about it, just trust me when I say it was a big waste of money but someone somewhere decided it would be a good idea to shake it off.  Maybe the inventor got the idea from a hula-hoop, you know those things you used to move your hips around to keep the hoop moving.  Never mind!

Okay so let me tell you that things had not been going so great, I hadn’t fixed any food for myself which mean trying to throw things together for a meal and it just wasn’t working out last week but I did try to contain my bad eating habits.  Unfortunately bread was a part of my downfall.

Let’s move on to why I probably lost the weight since I wasn’t eating correctly.  Well that reason is rather simple.  I exercised and not just light exercised, I did it for about 11 hours straight.  I know what you’re thinking, am I insane for exercising for that long and who in the hell can work out that long.  Me, but there is a way to do it and have fun.

You want to know my secret?  Are you sure that you are ready for this big secret to be revealed?  Sure?  Okay here’s what I did.

I rode my ass off on my recumbent tricycle on Saturday.  I rode 88.64 miles in one day.  Unfortunately I kind of got a late start on things, I know I keep on making that mistake, and I was feeling so good that I decided why not keep on going.  Boy was that a dumb mistake.  I realized I had left my headlight safety gear at home but I was prepared for the ride in every other way, or so I thought.

I was making good time on the first leg of the ride, averaging 10.4 – 11.5 mph but that all quickly ended when I took an exterior loop to avoid a city.  I should have rode through the city, it was more downhill where the loop was mostly uphill…why…because it was the rise going around the city.  So then I had planned on riding a bit further out to a lake and stopping there before turning around and heading back.  Heck, I made great time.  I rode 42 miles in 4 hours and 2 minutes.  Not too shabby.

So after about 30 minutes of rest I got back on my trike and rode through the city I had bypassed to pick up a front headlight because it would be getting dark soon.  I had great help from a kid at Wallyworld but the kid liked to talk and was so concerned about getting my headlight and my new tail light that I just bought attached to the bike.  The headlight went on easily but not the tail light so I just hooked it to the back of my pannier bag, thanked the clerk for his help and rode off into the darkening sky.  I spent an unexpected hour in the store when I could have been out and on my way in 20 minutes, but I didn’t want to be mean to him.

Once it started getting dark I noticed that my speed began to slow down, mainly because I couldn’t see as well in the dark as I could in the light and the shadows kept throwing me off while riding.  Funny but I made better time on the way to the lake even with having to stop 5 times because I dropped my phone and ran over it with my trike, disconnect the bag from the front boom of my trike, adjust my music and twice stop to remove the wires from the debris on the roadway that had gotten tangled up with my gears and the second time in my wheels.  The trick was that it is so much easier to ride in the light of day than in the night.

So by the time I got back to where I had started, I had stopped several times because everyone kept on calling me or texting me trying to find out what was going on and where I was.  That is one of the disadvantages of not having a road crew with you, it is hard to stop and tell people to leave you alone because you’re struggling up a hill which is exactly where I was when they kept on calling.  So of course the calls just increased and finally I gave up and pulled over and told them I was find and that I just needed to finish making it up the hill.

Then I realized that the only big downhill I was to encounter was just before I made my turn to where I had parked my truck.  The majority of the trip back was a climb with only very slight downhills if they could even be called that.

So the secret to losing what I believed was 5 pounds in one day, exercise the hell out of yourself and then weigh yourself the next day.

Well I tried to eat after I finally finished my ride because I had already burned through the two Powerbar gel packs that I had at the half way point but I had a problem.  I stopped at Whataburger (www.whataburger.com) and got a meal because I knew that I would need the fries for the potassium and I wanted the diet soda.  Well don’t worry about that, because I had borrowed my brother’s truck which didn’t have cup holders so I pulled down the middle part of the front seat and opened it and put the drinks there.  I got a large diet drink and a shake.  I pulled out of the lot and onto the street when the top of the middle part started to close only to crash into my soda cup with the straw in it.  Turns out it forced the straw through the styrofoam and all of the drink emptied out of the cup into the middle seat compartment where my fries were as well as lots of papers belonging to my brother.  So I managed to eat my burger and had the shake drink only after I used the large amount of napkins to sop up the soda and wring it out the side window of the truck.  That took another twenty minutes thus delaying my arrival home which of course worried the local family members.

But Saturday night, no let me say Sunday morning, I really didn’t care what I ate as in worrying about protein or carbs.  I just wanted food and thankfully almost all Whataburgers are open 24 hours a day.

So ride hard and don’t eat, that was the secret to my weight loss.

It just reminded me that I like to ride my trike and maybe I should be doing a bit more of that to help me shed some of the weight.

Oh and by the way I took a short epsom soak for about twenty minutes and put on some Pan Away and the next morning I was feeling great.  Almost ready to ride another 50 or so miles.

Seeing that it helped me to lose weight and I really like it, I need to start riding more frequently although I really hate riding inside the city.  Oh well got to find some place else to ride.  Preferably before the heat of summer hits.

So 5 down and only 25 more to go.  Still trying to figure out how to make the body burn more efficiently for me without me having to think about it.  Why….because thinking hurts my brain!

Primal For 21 Days – Day 21 & Conclusion

Well this is the end of my days of dieting for the moment.  I’m taking a day or so off to relax and get a few things done and some shopping for proper food to eat so I can go back to eating primal.  No I’m not giving up at all, taking a day or so and then I will be right back on it.  During this day or so I’m going to be lining up things that I can do eating wise as well as exercise wise because my one draw back on this has been my inability to exercise….no let me take that back, my lack of exercise.  I guess I could have squeezed it in if I really tried but I didn’t make that much of an effort so no one to blame but myself for my end results.

Speaking of results, let me finish up things here on the day after for Day 21 information,

Breakfast:

Egg, Large 2 1
Coffee w/Sweetener/Cream/FV creamer SF/WC SF 1 mug 2
Applewood Bacon – Thick 2 slices 0

Lunch:

Hamburger w/1oz Provolone Cheese/1/6 cup Cranberries 1 12

Well as you can tell I kept it under 50 and did that for most of my days.

PRIMAL FOR 21 DAYS CONCLUSION:

So what can I say it has been relatively good for most of these 21 days and with a couple of exceptions I was almost always under 50 grams of carbohydrates per day and it showed.

 

Oh yeah, I’ll bet you might want to find out if I lost any weight.  As you remember my weight was 200.9 last week and I was excited to have that and I was hoping to be 200 pounds or less today.  In case you couldn’t tell I did not actually do Day 21 info on day 21 but instead on the day after.

So despite my not exercising and despite my slight flub I nervously stepped on the scale and it said.

198.3 pounds.     So from last week I lost 2.6 pounds this week !!!!!!

 

So I was able to lose a total of 11.4 pounds in 21 days.  Which isn’t too bad considering my lack of exercising and my being sick during the first week and some on the second week.

I’m going to be relaxing for a few days, namely today because I feel like relaxing.  But that does not mean that I will stop.  No I’ll keep on being primal in my eating habits and will do my best to avoid pasta and breads as well as grains, but not for a day or so.  Part of it will be difficult because I’ve got a photography job this weekend and I also will have my weekend at the amusement park for my 5 year anniversary with my company.

I will take these next couple of days to figure out exercises such as bicycle riding which I really like, walking and maybe even doing a little bit of hiking.  If I’m really lucky I will be able to also get some stadium stair climbing going need to make sure I’ve got my days and time planned.

So now I know for sure that eating primal is good for my.  I’ve had several people compliment me on the loss of weight stating that they see it in my face and have also noticed how good my complexion is so this works.

When I start being primal I will make sure I exercise so that I can work some of the fat off while trying to build muscle and it will also allow me to relax and let my mind wander which in turn relaxes the brain and makes my sleep pattern deeper and maybe I’ll get closer to 8 hours of rest.

I’ll talk to you later and keep you apprised of what is happening but for now I’m outta here for work and to try and relax.

Being Primal is just around the corner for me again and I know that things will go as good if not even better when I start up in a couple of days.

Primal For 21 Days – Day 15 – Weigh-In Day

Ah yes the day that I’ve been dreading…weigh in day.  Now I only got about 6 1/2 hours of sleep which is about the norm for me when I’m not taking all sorts of meds to knock me out.

I was nervous as hell and unfortunately my drinking water hadn’t help things move along last night so this weigh-in was done before normal wake up habits.

 

So let’s quickly review.

9/18/13 my weight was 209.7

9/25/13 my weight was 203.1

10/2/13 my weight is  200.9

 

I LOST 2.2 POUNDS !!!

 

i’m surprised that I even had any weight loss considering how heavy I ate the night before and how I’ve had a few slips putting my close to the 100gram of carbohydrate count last Thursday.  Yeah I know that it is not much of a loss and I realize that my big weight loss the first week was probably all water loss, but that is okay.  I’m getting closer to being under 200 pounds and that is my short term goal and one I hope I can accomplish in the next 7 days.  So I will be doing one more weigh-in which will be the day after I finish 21 days of Primal.  Now I know the idea of only losing 0.9 pounds in one week may seem easy to some of you but let’s face facts, I don’t have such a good track record of getting below 200 pounds or at least stay that way for more than one day.

I’ve got a big task ahead of me and for the next few days.  I’ve got to mow the lawn which will not be fun since I still haven’t gotten the lawn mower from my brother so it will be the push mower and me early in the morning.  I need to do it tomorrow because on Friday I’ve got to go pay my parking ticket and then I’m taking my mother to some German Octoberfest downtown where one of my other brothers is suppose to be doing his German thing.  And the Octoberfest is 2 weekends in a row and since I will be busy all day long on th 12th celebrating at the local amusement park I guess this coming weekend is the only time to go see my brother doing his German thing.  I say do his German thing because we are not German, or at least I don’t think we have any German in us because no telling where our forefathers slept. <wink, wink>

 

So I got up early enough to eat breakfast but decided to hold off and shower so I could take my mother grocery shopping which we managed to do and thankfully I had already cooked my meat dishes so all  had to do was cook the vegetable stuff for dinner tonight and things were ready for me to go to work.

 

The saddest thing is that tonight I once again had steak and greenbeans but seeing that I don’t get a lunch and have to eat as I’m working, sometimes things tend to get cold.  So my steak and greenbeans went cold and I had to warm them back up but at least they still tasted good.

Speaking of taste, I guess I should go ahead and list what I’ve eaten for the day.

Well as you tell it has been a heavier eating day for me than most of the time and I really don’t care right now, I’m still below 50 grams so I’m pretty happy with that.

At night my body has been craving more so I noticed that I’ve started to eat more so now I’m going to have to do something else to change my habits so I don’t get hungry at night when I get off of work.  This will be the next thing I need to focus on doing because eating late at night is not so great and I noticed that it tends to make me sleep longer into the morning so that I don’t have breakfast or when I do wake up early enough I’m not even interested in having breakfast, like today.

I just finished my salad which was the last of my dinner and since I’m all out of sparkling water, I will need to pick some up tonight, oh wow, I just remembered my other brother from the upper state just came in so I will have to go get him some sparkling water because he doesn’t like our local brand of sparkling water.  Maybe I can hold off until tomorrow.

Getting kind of anxious because the last time I did the lawn with the push mower it took 4 hours.  But that was in the heat and I’m planning on waking up early so do the lawn.  I will not be a statistic… I will fight the lawn but the lawn will not win.

Okay it is a play on words and for those of you too young to know there is a song by Bobby Fuller, ‘I Fought The Law’, one of the verses is I fought the law and the law won…..but I just…..

Ah never mind too hard to explain myself.

 

Anywho….who?!   Okay well I’ve got to get going because one shift is about to come on while the other gets off and usually they need something that will tie me up and I will forget about finishing this.  So I’m outta here.

 

I LOST 2.2 POUNDS !!!!!!

 

It is not a lot but at least it is a loss.

 

 

Primal For 21 Days – Day 8 – Weigh-In Day

Okay then the day that I have been dreading arrived.  I will admit this, I was still feeling a bit sick last night so I took a Benadryl and it allowed me to sleep which was good but I’ll tell you this much, at the end of the day I felt worse than I did in the morning.

I was scared, really scared that I wouldn’t lose any weight because let’s face it although I’ve been low on the carbohydrate count exercising is a part of the magic formula, so that along with the fact that I’ve been sick this whole time really has my nerves on edge and so I made sure the scale was on level ground and stepped up on the scale.

9/25/2013 – Day 8 :    203.1

I LOST 6.6 POUNDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I LOST  6.6 POUNDS !!!!!

 

Sorry but I was just so darn excited that I had even lost a pound but to have lost 6.6 pounds really put me over the top of happy and made me realize that although I didn’t exercise I still had lost some weight and if I had exercised, even simple waking I might have had a bigger loss.

Not that I’m not excited about the weight loss, I really am but wish I could have done more.

 

So I went to work and my throat started hurting, well let me take that back it was painful so I had some coffee to try and open it up but that didn’t work out well because I had to heat it up twice and the open throat wore off very quickly.  So then I later went and gargled with warm salt water which felt good but less than an hour later my throat felt even worse.  Then I had my dinner and I will say this much, I was hungry, darn hungry which I guess is a good sign that I’m getting better but you couldn’t tell by the way my throat was aching.  So tonight I went out and bought a very low carb hydrating drink which was less than 1 for every 12 ounces.  But every time earlier when I tried to drink water I swear it felt as if I was send sand down my throat.  I know I shouldn’t but I could not help it, I drank the whole 32 oz of that drink and so I will give it 1 carb count for the count so since there were 2.5 servings then I will add it to my list.  Now I’m sitting here drinking some hot peppermint tea and that is also doing wonders for opening up my throat and letting me breathe easier.

Looks like I will have to go fill that backup Rx for antibiotics because my glads in my throat are swollen and tender to the touch, glad the doctor was thinking ahead.

Enough of this stuff, let me go ahead and do a listing of what I had to eat.  It should not be done but once again I slept through breakfast and didn’t get up until almost lunch time.  Then I sat around for a few minutes trying to get my courage up for my weigh-in but that was mentioned up above this, so let’s get this show on the road.

I lost weight.  I can’t get over how happy that is making me feel despite it being morning news.  I need something to make me feel better as I sip my cup of tea.  Gotta love the soothing feeling of tea.

I’m hoping to feel better once I start taking the antibiotics and maybe then I can at least start walking.  So until tomorrow I’m outta here for now a whole 6.6 pounds less.   Yahoooooooooo!!!!!!!

Primal For 21 Days – Day 2

Well for me just starting this out of the blue things are going pretty good.  Guess all of my past attempts at eating primal is paying off and for that I’m grateful.

So now where to do I began, let me see….well I guess the best thing to happen for the day is that I slept in.  Yep, I slept through breakfast and didn’t get up until 1100 hours.  Now you may think what the hell is she doing, is she crazy, she is going to get fired.  Although getting fired is always an option no matter what the job, but I have some job security.  Going back to sleeping in let me tell you that I went to bed at 0200 hours and was struggling to get to sleep and then after about 20 minutes I had a coughing fit.

So I woke up coughing and didn’t stop for about 30 minutes, causing pain in my lower back, stomach and chest from all of the coughing and I’m lucky that I didn’t wake up the whole neighborhood with my coughing.  Also with all of the water that I was drinking I had to make frequent trips you know where.  I finally managed to calm down a bit after taking the Rx cough medicine and went to sleep but that didn’t last very long.  At about 0520 hours this morning I woke up coughing and I was having a very hard time stopping and yes I was sore again.  Let me tell you I was really beginning to wonder if I would ever feel better because on previous nights I’ve not had coughing fits as intense.  After getting up and wandering around and downing some water to try and get myself to relax I remembered that I had the generic brand of children’s liquid Zyrtec which is just for allergies.  My Rx cough syrup wasn’t working so I figured why not give it a try.

What a difference, my throat relaxed and my coughing eased up dramatically so I thought hey why not try to go back to sleep.  Bad choice because I lay down and then started coughing but when I sat up things eased in my coughing.  So I pulled my sitting pillow that has arms and back support and added one of my pillows for back support and the other for my head allowing me to sleep upright.  After 20 minutes I had fallen asleep but woke up when I started to turn over which doesn’t work very well.  Seeing that I had relaxed enough, I decided to take a chance on sleeping laying down.

It worked and I was able to get back to sleep but had set my alarm for 0830 hours hoping to do a morning walk but when I got up I still felt a little tired so I decided to go back to sleep.  The best thing is that when I woke up at 0830 hours I was feeling pretty good and there was only a little bit of soreness in my throat.  I grabbed a sip of water and went back to bed and slept heavily and slept until 1100 hours.  It is amazing how much better I feel after sleep.  I actually think that I’m on the mend because there is less irritation in my throat and my allergies seem to be coming back under control.  The sad thing is that I never had such intense allergies until I was an adult.

So as I stated, I slept through breakfast but before I fixed my salad I needed some caffeine so I had a cup of coffee for a late coffee break but that was after I showered.  So I sat there relaxing with my cup of coffee which actually made my throat feel better so I might bring a coffee pod to work just in case I have tightness in my throat.  Without further adieu let me list my meals.

Early Brunch:

Coffee with Stevia/Creamer 1 cup 2
Vitamin C – Emergen-C 1 packet 6

Lunch:

Tunafish Salad:Tuna/Mayo/Mustard/Chopped Egg 1/2 cup 0.2
Salad:Lettuce/Tomato/Carrots/Bacon/Cheese/Dressing 1 1/2 cup 7.5

Dinner:

Hamburger Patty – Juicy Lean Premade Patty 1 0
Applewood Bacon – Thick 2 slices 0
Cheese – Provolone 1 slice 0
Broccoli – Frozen 1 cup 6
Sprakling Water – Strawberry 12 oz 0
Avocado – Medium 2-Jan 0.7

Snack:

Coffee w/Stevia/Creamer 1 cup 2

TOTAL CARBOHYDRATES FOR DAY-2:    24.4 GRAMS

Now this is what I’m taking with me to work for dinner.  There may be some add-ons such as coffee or maybe some almonds in case I get hungry but only time will tell.   I’m also going to drink more water especially when I think that I’m hungry.  I’ve read that often we eat because of what we feel but when actually our body is telling us that we are dehydrated.  So I’m going to try drinking more water.  Since I don’t like the taste of the water even out of the water fountain I will be bringing my Britta filter water bottle so I can at least filter out some of the yucky taste.  So we will see what the rest of the night holds in store for me.

Okay for those of you who may have viewed this day earlier you will see that there was a slight change.  I was able to get half an avocado which was yummy.  Then I’m topping it all off with a cup of coffee, it is a wonderful way for me to relax.  Yes I can relax with a cup of coffee even without any alcohol being put in it.

I hope that I don’t have to talk too much at work because I know that will strain my throat but I’m going to the store to pick up some more children’s liquid allergy med before going to work.  I will be prepared and I will conquer my illness.  Yeah I know I say that now since I’m almost done with it but I figure over 10 days is enough time being sick.

So maybe I’ll be back to update today or maybe not.  Either way thanks for tuning in and hopefully by next Wednesday I will have even happier news.  At least 1-2 pounds and hopefully I will have a good start on getting control of my weight.  See you soon and thanks for tuning in.

Oh real quick, we ended up celebrating one of co-worker’s birthday early, it is tomorrow but that is her day off and then she is moving to another department so we won’t be able to visit with her like we usually do.  They had pizza, cheesecake, cupcakes and candy and you would be proud of the fact that I passed on all of the treats and enjoyed my dinner.  It tasted it great and I think I feel better having kept to my primal way of eating.  i FEEL GREAT !!!!!

Day 18 of 28

Well I’m back to where I was on Thursday morning so what I ate was worked off even without the extra exercising but that still doesn’t mean that I’m off the hook.

Well I woke up late simply because I managed to sleep 8 hours which is great.  So I grabbed a protein drink and then got ready to go for a walk.  3.53 miles later I felt good enough to do some yard work.  Okay the reality is that I was very upset because I found out that my supervisor’s boss is gunning for me and wants to put paper to me and get me out of the station.  The odd thing is that I’ve done everything to be nice and polite to her but then I found out that the woman who I relieve does not ever have anything positive in her life.  She complains about work, she complains about the customers, she complains about her life, she complains about her son and basically she is a very unhappy person and has been telling the big boss that my partner and I was making her life miserable.  Odd because we come in to work with smiles on our faces and actually like our job where all the other lady does is keep on threatening not to come back to work.  She needs to get a different job but until she does, she is determined to make everyone else’s life as miserable as she feels.  Yet other co-workers that she works with and others she come across all agree that she needs to someone to satisfy her really good and then maybe she will smile and won’t be angry with others who like their job.

So that was why I was walking so much, I needed to find a stress reliever and I guess that was why when I finished my walk I decided that I needed to do some much needed yard work.  Okay well the yard work was also needed because we’re expecting rain and our yard tends to flood because one of the neighbors put a cement barrier about 6 inches above ground which ruined the flow of water.  So we had to dig a ditch so the water could flow out of our yard.

I went to work with a hatchet trying to cut some of the grass back enough so that I could see the edge of the sidewalk and then the ants attacked but thank you poisons the ant issue was a thing of the past.  So then I could use the edger on the trench setting and I think that I’m ready for the rain because now there are deep enough trenches to help drain the rain water and decrease the flooding in my backyard.

Rev Up Exercises just didn’t get done today because I worked 3 hours on the lawn and I have probably more sore muscles and aches that I would if I had done the exercises but that’s okay because it was needed and left me feeling a little bit more satisfied especially now that it’s raining.

I still can’t believe how someone in a command position can be so bias and in our line of work we are supposed to get both sides of the story but she doesn’t want to listen to us so I’ll just keep on doing what I’m supposed to do and hope that Karma comes and smacks both ladies in the face.  So I’m doing my best not to be stressed especially since the woman telling the supervisor things about us is known to lie, guess that is why she hasn’t told the supervisor that she knows the supervisor’s husband in the biblical sense…come one Karma!!

So thanks for letting me vent and I’m doing my best not to let that factor upset me because I want to just focus on eating correctly and losing weight.  Now let’s see what I’ve eaten today.

 

Breakfast – protein drink – 3 oz protein, coffee with cream

Lunch – tuna sandwich on whole wheat bread, cuties (an orange) – 1 oz of protein

Dinner – burger from local chain, added another slice of cheese and meat pattie, bun, lettuce, tomato, 12 fries

Snack – 1/2 cup coffee

I’m not really sure how much I had on protein on the last meal but I’m going to estimate about 6 oz of protein and the bun and fries may have put me over but to be honest, at the time I didn’t really care.  I was busy doing things for 4 hours and have no idea how much energy I exerted but let’s put it this way, I was exhausted once I finished and decided I was not in the mood to cook and I wanted meat.  I’m sure I’m going to pay for it but that is life and sometimes you just have to give in and let things happen.

I have aches in my knees, feet and all I can say is that it was one heck of a workout and gave me satisfaction.

So what is the moral of the story, watch out at work and just realize that some people will never be happy but I can’t let that bring me down, which it usually doesn’t but today was sort of the exception.  Then the next moral is don’t wait until the last minute to make preparations for mother nature events.  At least my trenches should be wide enough and deep enough to help the water flow.  Wish I had enough energy to stay up and watch but after all of that work I’m going to sleep and should sleep well, and with the rain I think the mating/fighting cats who wander over to my yard and cry out under my window will probably be under cover tonight.  Wow, a good night of sleep.  Look out pillow, here I come!
